Climates Essay

This essay will be about the different climates in the world Equatorial, Tropical Continental, Monsoon, Hot and Cold climates will be summarise.
In Equatorial places are located within 5° either side of the Equator. The main areas are the Amazon and the Congo. The temperatures during the year are high, annual rainfall of 2000mm, as a result of the warm air that is forced to rise creating heavy rain. In this climate one day is very much like the next one, temperatures are always high and everyday there is a short rain because of the abounding evapotranspiration.
To continue, Tropical Continental climates are located 5-20 degrees latitude either side of the Equatorial belt, away from coasts This includes Brazilian Highlands, Venezuela (South America) North Australia and parts of Congo. It has wet and dry seasons.
In the hot wet season temperatures are high because the sun is more vertical but when the sun goes down temperatures decline. During the sun goes to the other hemisphere winds increase and the pressure fall. The high winds took away any moisture long before they reach these inland areas.
As the Monsoon climate is mainly placed on South East Asia, their atmospheric conditions are completely opposite. On the one hand there is South-West Monsoon, this climate has high temperatures on june, generating warm air rise and be drawn northward from the Indian Ocean. In consequence air rise over the mountain creating large amounts of rainfall. On the other hand there is North East Monsoon, as the wind come in dry conditions from the south, the season is forced to be very dry. This creates droughts in some Indian countries.
The following climate is Hot Desert, this is in places located on west of continents between 5° and 30° North and South of the Equator. The annual rainfall are less than 250mm and temperatures are high during all the year. During day-time goes around 50° and at night decreases. Desert are very dry because the wind is not moist and if it comes from the sea is very cold to pick up moisture.
Finally Cold Desert. They are found poleward 60°N in Eurasia and some parts of America. In winter temperatures are very low going under -20°C. Winter is very long, cold and dark, this is because the sun fall too fast over the horizon. Summer is short and warm in respect of that climate (20°C) Days are very long in difference of winter.

In conclusion Equatorial, Tropical Continental, Monsoon, Hot and Cold climates had been analysed.

  1. It´s OK, Lucía but first, check language, please. Then , there are a few concepts I'd like you to correct. When you write about the equatorial climate, remember that the rains are for a short period but heavy. Next, the tropical continental climate is not well developed. You also write that the monsoon's "atmospheric conditions are completely opposite". This is not true as, for example, in both climates there are two seasons: a wet and a dry season. Finally you write that in the north-east monsoon the winds are dry because they come from the south. This is not so: they are dry because they come from the north where´s there is land.
